On October 31st, Lhabab Duchen is celebrated being one of the four main Buddhist festivals in the Tibetan calendar.

This is a celebration in honor of the descent of Buddha Shakyamuni from the Heaven of the Thirty Three Gods, where his mother Mahamaya was reborn.

For several months, Buddha gave teachings to her and other worldly gods. Then, at the request of his disciple, the Buddha returned, descending from heaven in the city of Sankasya, where he gave teachings.
